Where Rainbows Meet Memories

Hi ! I’m WANOKA.

Yesterday, four of us from my old university club got together. We shared stories from the past, caught up on what’s been happening in our lives, and even talked about C—our dear friend who passed away suddenly from a subarachnoid hemorrhage in June. She was full of life—bright, energetic, and endlessly warm. Her smile had a gentle charm that could captivate anyone who saw it. It’s still impossible to believe she’s gone. Unthinkable, really. As we spoke about C, it truly felt like they were sitting there with us, smiling quietly at the table. Moments like this remind me how precious friendship really is.

My friends listened to everything I’ve been through over the past few years—the ups, the downs, the unexpected turns—and their support gave me so much strength. At the same time, they couldn’t help but notice that I looked thinner and more worn out than before. This summer’s extreme heat left me drained, and honestly, I haven’t been feeling my best. They scolded me a little, telling me to eat more and regain some energy. I must have looked more fragile than I realized.

But despite that, yesterday was full of laughter and discoveries. I learned new things about my friends that I’d never known, and for the first time in a while, I felt genuinely happy.

I didn’t tell them this, but in the week after she passed, I kept seeing rainbows and iridescent clouds almost every day. It felt as if the sky itself was reminding us of her presence—bright, gentle, and impossible to forget. She is really amazing!🌈✨

We love you always, C!✨🧡

Following my friend’s passing, a breathtaking, dreamlike rainbow appeared from my balcony — as if from another world.

A Pegasus-shaped cloud and an iridescent cloud seen from my balcony.

Thank you so much for reading!

In this blog, I’ll be sharing glimpses of daily life in Japan—moments from my garden, seasonal dishes, and reflections along the way.
